About

John Colley Photography

After leaving Derby Art College, I joined Rolls Royce as an industrial photography apprentice gaining qualifications to BIPP level. After a period as in-house photographer at an advertising agency, I went freelance still working in advertising, industry and PR. A keen interest in motoring and motorsport led me towards that area of work, shooting the first ever cover for Classic and Sportscar magazine and working for major motor manufacturers in motorsport.

I opened my current drive-in Derby studio in 2006 and now mainly specialise in automotive studio photography for magazines, books, restoration companies, collectors and manufacturers. The studio features a full light grey cove with a flush electric vehicle turntable set into the floor, high level shooting mezzanine, comprehensive Arri and Dedolight tungsten lighting rig and studio flash.

I own my studio property and equipment outright, keeping my overheads to a minimum. I can therefore offer very keen price packages.
